Rome... is it sustainable?

in the present day is Rome sustainable? if the majority of the housing is made of stone would Rome withstand a disaster? would it be able to get back on its feet quickly or will it all crumble? also what is the environment like? is that also sustainable? is the transport sustainable? yeah .... thanks :)
