Dreams that feel real?

Last night I had a dream that felt extremely real. Now, I do not quite remember it, but I know my new bf was in it and when I woke up, I was snuggling his jacket and before I was fully awake, I could've swore he was holding me...this is impossible physically cuz he lives in another town. Why did this happen? What's this real feeling from?
